Abstract
Effective interlayer modification of clay was done by aluminum oxyhydroxy nanocluster. The expansion of the interlayer of clay was ascertained from XRD study. FTIR study indicated the presence of various functional groups responsible for the catalytic properties of the materials. Al-PILC material was demonstrated as an efficient heterogeneous solid acid catalyst for environmentally benign synthesis of bis (indolyl) methanes.
