Abstract

Two new oxovanadium(V) complexes, [VO(L1I)2(OEt)] and [VO(L2S)2(OEt)] (1-2) have been reported which are obtained from the reaction of the Schiff bases (L1IH1, L2SH1), (Where L1IH1 = isonicotinylhydrazone of benzaldehyde, L2SH1 = salicylalhydrazone of acetophenone) with VO(acac)2 / VOSO4 in 2:1 molar ratio. All the synthesized ligands and the metal complexes are successfully characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy. This study indicates that both the complex (1 and 2) is monomeric in solid state while complex 2 may have dimeric nature in solution.
