Abstract

Ferrocenyl compounds are important in research as it is used as a substituent in various compounds due to its redox properties and stability. The Ferrocenyl chalcones belong to the chalcone family in which one or both the aromatic group is substituted by the ferrocenyl unit which forms the central core for a variety of important biological compounds These compounds illustrate anticancer, antimalarial and other biological activity due to lipophilicity, electronic effects and other interesting properties. Some Ferrocenyl chalcones have been synthesized recently by linking the ferrocenyl moiety to the organic chalcone framework. In this work cymanterne based ferrocenyl chalcone has been synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt reaction using Monoaldehyde ferrocene [(5C5H4)Fe(5C5H4)CHO] and Acetyl cymantrene [(5-C5H4)Mn(CO)3].
