Abstract

Structural motifs of benzoxazoles, benzimidazoles showed renewed interest in the synthetic chemistry because of their biological activity and diverse medicinal uses. Although several synthetic methods are available for the preparation of benzoxazole, benzimidazole, we developed a new synthetic procedure using solid phase catalyst montmorillonite K-10 due to its enhanced selectivity, ability to carry out reactions under milder conditions and easy of separation from the reaction mixture. In our current literature we use benzene 1,2-diamine and 2-aminophenol condensation with orthocarboxilic acid ester for the preparation of these two azoles.
