Niki, Bhavna Mishra (2012) Adsorption of hexavalent chromium onto goethite. BTech thesis.
| PDF 260Kb |
Abstract
Hexavalent chromium being a potent carcinogen need to be treated before its disposal. The
adsorption of hexavalent chromium onto goethite was carried out by considering the influence contact time and the initial concentration in solution. The adsorption of hexavalent chromium increased with an increase in the concentration of this metal in solution. Goethite with a positively charged surface played a significant role in chromate ion removal. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were employed to observe as to how closely the function fits to the experimental data obtained.
