Abstract
The surface water and ground water near any copper mine is susceptible to get affected in its quality. The study was carried out by taking suitable soil and water samples from the vicinity of Malanjkhand copper mine and its tailings. These samples were tested through various methods such as XRD, SEM, AAS and etc. to observe the quality of the water and soil samples collected. It was observed and verified that though the surface water in the vicinity of Malanjkhand mine has been affected with very low pH, high electrical conductivity and excess content of iron (Fe), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) and sulphate ions (SO42-) which is more than the permissible limit defined by the world health organization (W.H.O.), but, the ground water has not been affected due to the activities of Malanjkhand copper mine.
