Abstract

This Thesis contains two aspects of designed patch antennas. The First one is with design of dual band rectangular patch antenna with 6 and 8 cut slots patch with feed line width of 1.6 mm and 2 mm for each to analyse the characteristics for WiMAX and WLAN application. The concept of DGS has been incorporated in the proposed designs for performance improvement. The second aspects of the design is of dual band circular patch antenna with single circular cut slot of patch with probe feeding positioned at 2.5 mm and 2.9 mm in X axis.
The designed antennas are simulated using CST software to verify our requirements for the mentioned applications. In this thesis, the author has tried to incorporated the measured results to validate the design models. Simulated and measured results do not agree 100 % due to some fabrication errors like soldering effects and connector size. How ever the performance of DGS is found to be encouraging compared to conventional design.
