Abstract
Numerical studies of Pulse Tube Refrigeration are performed in the present dissertation to investigate the influence compressor frequency on the performance of Stirling type single stage Inertance Tube Pulse Tube Refrigerator (ITPTR). The entire inertance tube pulse tube refrigerator (ITPTR) operating under a specified boundary conditions are modelled using Finite Volume Method (FVM) with commercial software package ANSYS with Dynamic Meshing and User Defined Function. It is found that the performance of the ITPTR and the cooling rate is strongly dependent on the frequency of the compressor. The frequency study have been performed for two different dimensions of the ITPTR separately. The frequency of the compressor has been varied from 10 Hz to 100 Hz for ITPTR with dimension-1. The rate of cooling is found maximum when the frequency of the compressor is used as 20 Hz for ITPTR with dimension-1. For the ITPTR with dimension-2, the frequencies have been varied from 20 Hz to 34 Hz. The rate of cooling is found maximum when the frequency of the compressor is used as 34 Hz for ITPTR with dimension-2.
