Abstract

The present study involves empirical investigation of the performance of transportation system in urban streets of India managing both behavioral intention of user and physical aspects of transportation system. Regression and Rasch methods are used to analyze LOS of urban street segments using road user’s perception data. Regression method produces a road user’s satisfaction measure for each user and an evaluation of its importance on the satisfaction level for each attribute. But Rasch model (RM) appears to be particularly appropriate when analyzing quality of road parameters and satisfaction level together. Moreover, a Rasch analysis can also act as a useful diagnostic tool for calibrating the questionnaire itself. This study is based on the rating scale Rasch model and different applications of the Rasch Model are presented for the purposes of measuring quality of road infrastructure and road user satisfaction levels. Performance assessment of user according to their nature involve complex and huge data, which was collected through multiple attributes included in a standard questionnaires. This analysis is multidimensional in nature as a set of response of all the questions are aggregated to estimate the probability of user’s comfort level and difficulties due to geometrical or traffic parameters
