Abstract

In increasing demand in electrical energy and use of electrical energy in every application, scientist and researchers are finding new ways to get electrical energy, and one way is the solar power. But the photovoltaic way of generation has several drawbacks because of less efficiency and varying illumination of the solar power. So maximum power point tracking technique is used to get maximum efficiency from the solar photovoltaic cell. There are several methods which are implemented but the response time for tracking maximum power is more, So in this case, intelligent methods come into picture which gives the very fast response as compared to other methods. This type of methods is used in electrical vehicles and other application where fast response is required. This paper presents a novel method i.e. fuzzy logic technique for MPPT which gives the fast response. In this thesis, a Matlab/Simulink environment is created to simulate and compare the response time and the accuracy of the Fuzzy logic based MPPT controller with the most popular algorithm used i.e. P&O algorithm for MPPT tracking.
