Abstract
Modern appliance needs many features such as motor speed control, simple to use interface, security features. These features can be easily implemented through the microcontroller. And using fuzzy logic approach in these makes the system more reliable and robust. Microcontrollers with Fuzzy logic are used inside various equipment to optimize their performance like; regulate temperature of air conditioning system, optimize water uses in a washing machine, charging of batteries, subway system, facial recognition in cameras etc. This dissertation presents the simulation of a fuzzy logic controller to control the speed of a DC motor and a prototype toy motor being controlled using fuzzy logic controller. The controller is designed using a microcontroller. All the implementation algorithms are explained and codes are given in this paper. A key board and a LCD display is interfaced to interact with the user. The controller provided can be used for other purposes also, without reprogramming the microcontroller.
