Abstract

In the present investigation, the free and forced vibration response of the magnetostrictive particle reinforced polymer composite plate is studied. The simulation model of the plate structure is developed using finite element based simulation software ANSYS. The said model in further discretised using well developed four noded shell element SHELL-181. The free vibration responses are evaluate using Block Lanczos approach and the force vibration responses are obtained using Newmark time integration method. The consistency of the proposed model is checked by evaluate the responses for different element sizes. Further, the validity of the model is checked by comparing the present dynamic responses with those of the responses of the published literature. Further, the proposed model is extended to understand the effect of different design parameter like side to thickness ratio, length to width ratio, boundary conditions on free and forced vibration response of the layered composite plate embedded with magnetostrictive material by solving the various numerical example and discussed in detail.
