Abstract

Blast furnace is a metallurgical device which is used to produce liquid metal as iron and delivered through tap-hole. The tap-hole is one of major problem of blast furnace parts as it is presented to a high temperature and pressure, which affect the furnace wall and refractory lining. A three- dimensional steady state heat transfer stave model at tap-hole area is developed .Cast iron stave is studied and the finite volume method is used to perform the computational analysis with ANSYS fluent .Simulation focused on effect of the cooling water mass flow rate, the lining material, the stave material, alternative cooling agent, lining thickness on stave hot surface. It is found that the heat transfer and maximum temperature on stave hot surface can be direct by regulate the operating state of blast furnace such as lining material and thickness, stave material. The numerical calculation indicate great conformity with experimental result.
