Abstract
Nowadays expansion turbines are turning out more admirable since they are meeting a great requirement for low-pressure cycles in the different cryogenic process as well as liquefaction plants. Since the functioning of an expansion turbine relies on turbine wheel, this project is focused on the comprehensive turbine wheel design of the impellers having mixed flow with radial in and axial out.
We have selected the working speed of the turbine wheel from design charts which are created by similarity principles to find out the principal dimensions of the turbine wheel. Also, Hasselgruber’s method is employed to design the profile of the turbine wheel.
