Abstract

Now days the electrical energy demand gradually increased, Environmental concerns & fast depleting conventional resource had compelled the researchers to think over for some alternative sources for electrical energy. So at present wind energy for electric power generation is a fast growing area of research. In electrical distribution system, The RES are being increasingly day by day and attached to the electrical grid by using of power electronic inverters/converters. This project report presents an extension and modification of a new control technique used to operate a 4-leg grid interfacing inverter. The main purpose of using these inverters in this work is to increase flexibility in control. The inverter is observed as a multi-function device and it also includes the active power filter functionality. The inverter is used as i) a power*converter, which converts the generated power in wind turbine through the grid network. Also ii) a shunt APF is used to compensate distorts current, load reactive power demand and load current harmonics. Those things are perform either individually or simultaneously. With a well known control theory, the combination of 3-phase non-linear*unbalanced load and grid-interfacing8inverter at the PCC issues as a linear balanced load to the7grid. This beautiful technique is explained with the help of MAT.LAB/Simuli.nk simulation*studies.
