Abstract
Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources and cheaply produced. It can be produced from different organic waste by anaerobic digestion. CO2 and H2S present in the biogas causes some drawbacks when biogas is used in heat and power applications. Pre-treatment and upgradation are two different ways to improve the quality of biogas. In this investigation, biogas obtained from co-digestion of cow dung and tea waste was upgraded using cryogenic upgradation treatment using Liquid Nitrogen as a coolant. For this purpose a Heat Exchanger was designed for liquefaction of CO2 and separating methane from biogas.
Another setup was also made to meet the same objective but in a different way using a balloon as a carrier of biogas and temperature graph was plotted. The results are presented in the thesis with the purity of methane extracted.
