Abstract

The primary objective of all the industries at the present scenario is to make profit and it is possible only when the working environment is SAFE, CLEAN & FREE FROM HAZARD which will not only increase productivity but also keep the moral of employees high. Keeping this in view our organization, the giant steel manufacturer has formulated a clear cut policy for safety, health & environment. Accordingly, RSP has made the policy- “safety is to be integrated with work process and become responsible for safe & higher production”. Though safety has been a cause of concern at all stages in the organization still we firmly believe that all accidents are preventable and accordingly we have taken several measures to promote safety at various stages and the safety performance is improving over the previous years but still we are quite away from our desired goal of “ACCIDENT FREE STEEL”.
To improve safety standard lot of efforts have been made like imparting safety training to all category of employees, motivating line managers for owning safety, incorporating safety in SOPS & SMPS, Organising of safety Audit by internal & external agency, implementation of risk control grading system etc. Though significant improvement in our safety standard has been achieved still for further improvement of our safety culture we have prepared this “Safety Manual” which has covered almost all activities which are being carried out in an integrated steel plant and required safety measures to be taken have been narrated which will act as “Safety Geeta” for all and definitely will be an asset for reference at any time.
