Abstract
The creation of a new district brings with it several inevitable changes in the social and economic demography of a region. In light of transportation engineering, this changes might be very drastic, such as the complete reversal of travel patterns, erratic changes in the production of trips, changes in mode distribution and so on and so forth. The reason behind such changes can be ascribed to several socio-political modifications that comes as part and parcel of administrative changes. One such district Kalimpong was designated as the 21st district of West Bengal in February 2017 after its split from the Darjeeling district. This paper reviews the various aftermaths of district creation in the trip production patterns of the Kalimpong city.
