IoT devices and communication technologies have found its usefulness in smart city applications. The sensor should be connected to the network and it should freely exchange data and messages. In this work, the camera is used as surveillance sensor and connected to the network to work as an IoT device. Traffic data collection is very essential for traffic management system. Collecting such a data manually is very laborious and time-consuming. In this work, a tool is developed to automatically extract information about traffic using CCTV/IP camera. The main objective was to develop a tool which can work in an embedded system. Client-Server distributed processing paradigm is discussed. For classification purpose, CNN is used, as embedded system possesses constraints on processing power this extra processing is done in the high-performance remote server. The client side will extract useful image blobs for further classification and send it to server side with other useful information such as its vehicle id, and path information. On the client side, the vehicle data is extracted by exploiting the motion information in the video feed. The trajectories of vehicles are calculated, finally vehicle is counted and snap is taken when it comes inside exit areas.
