Abstract

Application of magnetic field to Electro chemical machining may give a favorable result in MRR and surface finish. Here experiments has performed in ECM by introducing the magnetic field at the area of machining. Magnetic field is generated by using the Electromagnet with solenoid as mild steel. The supply of current through the coil will complete the purpose of generating magnetic field. The iron core solenoid of the Electromagnet increase the intensity of the magnetic field. Introduction of magnetic field in ECM will provide the extra energy for the particles to excite with higher intensity which leads to increase in the MRR in the case of introducing the magnetic field. Analysis of the experimental MRR values provides that the intensity of magnetic field and concentration of electrolyte will have the significance in Taguchi analysis. Introduction of magnetic field in ECM leads to the decrease in the surface roughness that means increases the surface finish of the work piece and by the analysis of Taguchi the factor intensity of magnetic field is only found to be significant in decrease of the surface roughness.
